Don't worry if this feels confusing — we'll walk through it together, one step at a time. So my 3 months old Dell Inspiron Laptop stays on even after closing the lid. I know because when I come back after a few hrs, either it's hot as it's still running or its battery is drained. The mouse led also stays on. I have set it to hybernate but it does not. I want to keep my apps open so that I can start from where I left. If I setup shut down option while closing lid, it will do a fresh start. If I choose hybernate, I can start from where I left but laptop gets heated as it stays on so it will affect the battery life and laptop life itself.
